It is our belief that just because an animal is homeless, it should not be denied medical care. For that reason, we have donated our services to the Whatcom Humane Society since the 1990s. The Humane Society has a very capable veterinarian and well equipped veterinary clinic onsite, but there are procedures that are beyond their ability to perform. In those circumstances we step in to provide whatever care is needed for the dog or cat to recover and be successfully adopted. Read Piper’s story below.
Piper’s Story:
This really sweet little girl was transferred to our office from Whatcom Humane Society after being hit by a car. Both of her rear legs were broken and she was in need of a new home.
Fixing her legs was the easy part.
The hard part was teaching her to walk normally again. This required physical therapy, which included acupuncture with electro-stimulation of her muscles, therapeutic laser treatments, and hydro-therapy in our underwater treadmill.
Now, after six weeks, she is walking, and on her way to a permanent home with her new best friend, Lucy.
